Details on this year’s Relay For Life event have been unveiled.

The Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser will be held on Friday, June 22nd beginning at 6 pm.

The honorary survivor this year is Doug Bies, and like many who take part in this event, he has been impacted directly by cancer.

He has beaten cancer twice and says the funds raised from the event support Canadian Cancer Society programs and services that have helped people like him, as he went to Sudbury for treatment.

“They were able to transport me there at no charge so I could leave my car at home for my kids while I was undergoing treatment a couple of years ago,” Bies says.

Funds also go to research.

“The research that they provided was able to provide some of the diagnostic tests that were able to catch my particular cancers at an early stage,” he says.

Bies also lost his wife to cancer.
