The city is reporting a $13-million increase in building permit numbers in 2017 compared to the year before.

The just over $91-million last year is the most in eight years and easily surpassed the 2016 mark of close to $78-million.

City officials say that’s a 17 per cent increase.

The residential numbers are a big reason for the increase as they more than doubled to almost $35-million last year.

Some of that was thanks to the Marina Point expansion.

Mayor Al McDonald says the numbers are significant and they show investors and developers remain confident in North Bay’s outlook.
