City Police say both October and November were busy months in terms of investigating motor vehicle collisions in North Bay. Deputy Chief Scott Tod says they had 153 accidents to look into in November alone and another 101 in October. He attributes the spike in November to unpredictable weather.

“A lot of the ones in November were weather related. We had a 50 per cent increase in collisions. One particular day we had a fast freeze as we went from a wet road condition to an icy road condition within hours. I remember the day well.”

Tod says 28 people were injured in those 2 months combined as a result of accidents.

Still Tod says people should be aware of the conditions before they go out on the roads and their driving should reflect the current conditions.
