Legislation to end a five-week strike by faculty at Ontario’s 24 colleges including Canadore has been tabled in the legislature.
The bill didn’t pass on Friday because the consent of all three parties in the legislature was needed and the New Democrats didn’t support it.
The New Democrats say they want debate on the bill and that could start on Saturday afternoon with a vote to come later in the weekend.
About 500-thousand students have been out of class since their professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians walked off the job last month.
Once the back-to-work legislation is passed, it’s expected that students could be back in their classrooms two days later.
