A big donation to help children with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses from P&G Auto.

P&G helped recycle nearly 7,900 tires to win this year’s Tire Take Back event.

The province-wide campaign resulted in a $54,000 cheque being presented to the Sunshine Foundation, which helps fulfill the dreams of children with disabilities and life-threatening illnesses.

Heidi Spannbauer with the foundation says every dollar counts towards making a child’s wish come true.

“The number of auto recyclers involved and the haulers and processors, it’s a community effort.  To see that come together in a voluntary way and everybody give back the funds to raise the funds we need to make dreams come true, it’s overwhelming.”

Former recipient of the foundation, Sarah Lashbrook says the foundation helped her live a dream for a weekend and turn into a life-long passion.

She became paraplegic after a car accident when she was 14, the accident also killed her father and severely injured her mother.

She says thanks to the foundation she was able to travel to California and meet her hero Roseanne Barr and start a career in writing novels and screenplays.
