The North Bay Police Service is teaming up with hotels and taxi companies to stem Human Trafficking.

Police Chief Shawn Devine says the goal is to help spot the signs of human trafficking with industries who unknowingly deal with it the most.

“Because North Bay is small it’s usually done on the quiet side. But if you look into the back pages of websites it is here.  Especially with North Bay being the gateway to the North, because it’s not seen it often goes unnoticed,” he said.

Executive Director of Victim Service Carolyn Couchie says this is to teach those most likely to encounter the crime what the next step should be.

She says partnering with these services with the North Bay Police is also a stride in the right direction.

Three women have been rescued from Human Traffickers in the North Bay area in the last 12 months.
